Nitrox for certified divers
Coral Sub owns one of the only 2 membrane Nitrox compressors in Tenerife. Dive longer, in complete safety.
More and more divers choose to dive with enriched air – Nitrox – rather than standard air. Our compressors produce Nitrox by removing nitrogen from ambient air, making handling safer, simpler and cheaper in the long term.
Self-study
Theory manual and DVD kit including all dive planning tables.
Instructor-led course
Classroom theory sessions with a certified PADI instructor to master all aspects of Nitrox.
2 open water dives
Practical training in the waters of Tenerife, supervised by our instructors.
Why Nitrox?
Air is made up of approximately 79% nitrogen and 21% oxygen. During a dive, increased pressure causes nitrogen to dissolve into body tissues. On return to the surface, this nitrogen must be released through breathing without forming bubbles, a risk that causes decompression sickness.
Nitrox reduces the proportion of nitrogen and increases that of oxygen, allowing divers to absorb less nitrogen, extend their dive time and shorten ascent stops.
Important precautions
Nitrox is not a gas for deep diving. A high oxygen percentage at great depth can be highly toxic to the human body. The maximum authorised depth depends on the mixture used.
This is why students must understand and strictly follow dive planning, and why each student receives a complete DVD training kit with manual and planning tables.
